The first hurdle to jump in this project was getting the right hover craft. I searched for years, until finalizing a deal a few months ago in Oregon. Here are pictures from picking the craft up. It is a Neoteric Model 1874, which is approximately 12' long and 6.5' wide, which makes this unit a good platform for the DeLorean. It has side by side seating for four, although it will now be used primarily as a two seater, and has a "normal" capacity of 600 lbs. and an overload capacity of 1200 lbs. It is the deluxe model, with almost every option available, including the one option that I really wanted to get - the reverse thruster pods.

As can be seen from the pictures, the project is beginning to take shape. In order to make this a functional DeLorean hover conversion, the exterior panels were attached in a strong but lightweight manner, and certain pieces will need to be considerably lightened. The doors that will be added will have the inner "guts" removed, and the damaged donor hood will have the outer skin removed from the fiberglass in order to lighten it. There will probably be no glass in any of the panels and for now, both rear louver and fascia will not be used, but may be added at a later date when highly modified.

I have finished attaching all the panels, and decided to go with the original convertible doors, as those were too beat up to keep on that car. The fiberglass of the hover craft has been painted black in order to match the hover skirt and as to not clash with the stainless steel panels. The preliminary measurements have made the craft appear more nose heavy (with a 1.5' overhang), but proportionally there will be much less weight up front and may actually help to get "on cushion" more rapidly. I have also added custom stickers to facilitate with the obvious BTTF references. Make sure to take a ride with me in the multimedia section.
