DeLorean Brochures
- ERM - Elastic Reservoir Molding Brochure
-
Composite Technology Corporation was a company John DeLorean bought/licensed the rights to in order to capitalize on their exciting technology. The Prototype DeLoreans had this lightweight - large impact resistance pontoon underneath the stainless steel skin. The advantage of this design was that it is very safe and it allowed the car to be built without the use of a conventional frame, since the ERM pontoon acts as a frame. At the end, DeLorean abandoned the idea in order to speed up the productionization of the car using Lotus's proven VARI technology.
- The DMC-80 - The Future Bus Today
-
The DMC-80, a creation that never got off the ground, but could have been very lucrative, is outlined throughout this brochure. Once again, DeLorean was trying to build something that would have been before its time, but didn't go about it the right way. By trying to dip his hands into a project like this, without massaging the DMC-12 to full success was not helpful in avoiding the company's later demise.
- DMC-3700 - The Proven Design
-
The snow version of the regular DeLorean, the DMC 3700 was a pet project of Mr. DeLoreans during the time he was still in business, and even for a few years after the company went under. Mr. DeLorean bought the Logan company that produced snow-shoveling vehicles to be used on ski slopes. This company was later sold by DeLorean in the late 80's to pay for legal bills that he used to disprove the suspicion that he funneled funds originally intended for the DMC-12 to purchase this company. Next time you are at a ski slope, look for the LMC logo on the sides of these machines, since a lot of them are still in use.
- Craig Car Stereo Brochure
-
This brochure shows the genius of what DeLorean was attempting to do with his car years before it even came out. He wanted to lure companies into his project to gain much needed free publicity to increase the hype of the car. This promotional brochure was used within the Craig company to demonstrate how they would be spending their advertising budget for the year of 1978. Since the prototype DeLorean used the craig radio, the car was profiled heavily in their ads.
- 1981 American Express Christmas Catalog
-
This 1981 American Express Christmas Catalog is extremely rare and interesting. Like always, Mr. DeLorean wanted to add more flash to his car, and what better way than to make a special edition 24 Karat Gold plated DeLorean. For a mere $85,000 dollars, this car could be yours! Pay close attention to the windows of the gold DeLorean featured on the cover and back of the magazine. The car used is actually a late prototype vehicle painted to have a gold like color, the sliding windows is what gives it away.
- Dealer Brand Sign Program
-
Every certified DeLorean dealer was required to buy a dealership sign. This booklet was sent out to over 300 dealerships to allow them to decide which kind of sign they wanted to order. Notice how elaborate the wording and pictures are. Mr. DeLorean wanted to promote class, even with his dealership signs.
