Instead of the originally planned Pirelli tires, it was decided to change to Goodyear, largely because Goodyear offered a better deal and the engineers thought the tires were more suitable. The Pirellis had a "hard" ride but showed up all the bumps in the Lotus suspension. The Lotus engineers liked it that way-they felt it produced a more sporty feel.

The idea that there could be some international manipulation related to my company was not a surprise. Many of the facts are still unknown, but what is known creates a highly suspicious situation.
